Talking about the top-notch person around the world, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad will never be missed among them outstanding and respectful individuals. Truth to be told, his contribution to Malaysia has been a world changing for all Malaysians to the better. Us Malaysians should dig deeper into our Fourth Prime Minister who held the post of 22 years from 1981 to 2003, making him Malaysia's longest serving Prime Minister. He also has spent his political career almost 40 years. Lets take a look on his biography to show our concern and appreciation toward his contribution to all of us.
First of all, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad was born on 20th December 1925 at Lorong Kilang Ais, Seberang Perak, Alor Setar, Kedah. His father is Encik Mohamad bin Iskandar while his mother, Wan Tempawan binti Wan Hanafi who is a daughter of Kedah Chief Minister, Wat Mat Saman.Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is the youngest among his 9 siblings. His early education when he was little was at Sekolah Melayu Laki-laki Seberang Perak, Kedah. After that, he continued his studies at Sekolah Inggeris Alor Setar where the Principal of the School was his own father, Encik Mohamad bin Iskandar who was the first Malay who had been a principal in English Schools. That place is now known as Maktab Sultan Abdul Hamid. Since he was a kid, he is viewed as a hardworking person and very determined in achieving his goals. During the Japanese occupation, his education had hindrance, then Tun started a business where he had opened a coffee shop as well as selling fruits and handicrafts at Pekan Rabu, Alor Setar, Kedah. The end of the Second World War, he then continued his education in the same school. On 1945, he had furthered his studies at King Edward VII College of Medicine, University Malaya, Singapore. Then on 1952, Tun Dr. Mahathir achieved and graduated in MBBS Medication.
About his politic background, Tun is against Malayan Union since he was studying and very determined to establish Kesatuan Melayu Kedah and Kesatuan Pemuda Melayu Kedah. On 1946, he was one of UMNO members. Tun loves writing since he was young where he has written a lot of articles about things that had happened to the Malays and these article has been spread in the local newspapers with his nickname "Che Det". Most of his articles had been sent to Strait Times and Sunday Times with the theme of "The bitter life of the Malays". His talent in politics is shown when he was elected as a President in Pertubuhan Islam, Kolej Kedoktoran. He always joined debate and forum to point out and stand on his opinion.
